Deede had mentioned wanting to make a special dinner for Josh and I&#8217;m always up for entertaining and was honored to be part of their celebration. I provided the location and Deede took care of the food.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7814.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6748\" title=\"IMG_7814\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7814.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7814.jpg 450w, http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7814-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wanted to create a special table setting for the dinner. As my table is centered around Christmas decor, I stripped it down and immediately started thinking of options using things I already owned. I found a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marthastewart.com\/276203\/dreidel-place-card\" target=\"_blank\">template for dreidel place cards<\/a> on Martha Stewart&#8217;s website. I busted out some card stock and got to tracing and cutting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7815.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6749\" title=\"IMG_7815\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7815.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7815.jpg 450w, http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7815-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I created quite the mess, but they turned out pretty decent &#8211; and they were easy enough to create.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/photo1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6750\" title=\"photo1\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/photo1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/photo1.jpg 450w, http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/photo1-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I used some satin and grosgrain blue ribbon to run down the center of the table. My wedding china was perfect for the occasion. I also broke out my crystal stemware, mini salt and pepper shakers, my grandmother&#8217;s monogrammed white napkins and silver napkin rings. We aren&#8217;t paper subscribers, so I had to use mailer ads &#8211; classy. The special potato latkes sizzled away in the oil and my kitchen counter tops were safe.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7840.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6755\" title=\"IMG_7840\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7840.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7840.jpg 450w, http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7840-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Deede brought sour cream and apple sauce for latke toppings. I&#8217;d never had latkes with apple sauce, and wow&#8230; was that good!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7841.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6756\" title=\"IMG_7841\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7841.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7841.jpg 450w, http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7841-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While we were inhaling latkes, the matzo balls were cooking away in the chicken soup. Deede made the chicken stock earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7847.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6757\" title=\"IMG_7847\" src=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7847.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"328\" srcset=\"http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7847.jpg 450w, http:\/\/foodiddy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/IMG_7847-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shredded chicken, matzo balls, carrots, celery, parsnips and potatoes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A fun night of good food and friends &#8211; just what we all needed.\u00a0 Now we&#8217;re off to celebrate Christmas Eve with my family. I&#8217;ve been baking up a storm, whipping up appetizers, creating a Christmas movie for my family of old photos and just running around like crazy.
