A few years ago Dan and I made snake sandwiches for a Halloween party. I decided to recreate them for today’s lunch.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Pillsbury\u00a0Crusty French Loaf\u00a0\u00a0and some Dole Pineapple Juice cans…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Note: you don’t need to use the\u00a0cans,\u00a0it just helps with the curves.\u00a0 Do not bake the bread and cans together.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Break out the kitchen shears and make triangular\u00a0cuts to form the snake scales…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Melt some butter in the microwave and then add a few drops of green food color and mix well.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Use a brush to paint the snake scales with the green food coloring mixture and then bake using the directions on the can of refrigerated bread dough.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Slice the bread with a serrated bread knife – I just turned it on it’s side and easily sliced right through. Our sandwich makings included deli oven roasted turkey, brown sugared ham, hard salami, Havarti cheese, American cheese, Sierra Nevada Porter Spicy Brown Mustard, Mayo, salt, pepper, vinegar and red leaf lettuce… I used some dill I already had for the photos only.<\/p>\n

Spanish olives and toothpicks were used to form the eyes… and salami for the tongue…<\/p>\n

Slither, slither… Hiss, hiss…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The photos don’t do Mr. Snake justice…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Dan and I split the snake…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

He got 3 body parts and I got the head…<\/p>\n

I had huge plans to bust out Halloween cookies and other treats today, time just got away from me. I spent the day trimming the\u00a0bushes leading up to the porch, putting Halloween lights on the front porch topiary and prepping for trick-or-treaters.\u00a0 We are giving out Reeses, 3Musketeers, Milk Duds, Kit Kat, Junior Mints, Mike and Ike’s, Skittles, Nerds, Dots, Snickers and Caramel Apple Pops.<\/p>\n

So far we’ve had a bunch of really big groups – a 2 year old bumble bee is in the running for cutest costume.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I love decorating for Halloween – got a couple of new black feathered trees and some spell books at HomeGoods this year.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Didn’t carve pumpkins – stuck the Eddie Bauer ceramic on the porch with some cool LED lights. Kids keep talking about the witch. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

I hope you all enjoyed your Halloween as much as I did. No parties and no costumes for us this year. It\u00a0was really nice to just have a mellow day – chit chatting it up with the neighbors and all of their kiddos.
